|About the Book|
The pains of growing up in a Bangkok middle-class family with divorced parents, and the tug-of-war between friendship and love in adolescent hearts: a fast-paced, well-structured, well-observed local bestseller.Praphatsorn Seiwikun is a career diplomat and a highly acclaimed, amazingly productive writer - the author of some twenty best - selling novels, of which Time in a Bottle is undoubtedly the best. He has also written more than ten collections of short stories. Born in 1948 in the heart of Bangkok, the third of four children of a Thai middle class family with distant Portuguese ancestry, he spent his early years in a Chinese neighborhood in the capital. After attending a commercial college and performing in his spare time as a disc jockey, he interrupted his law studies to enter the Foreign Office at the age of 21. He was posted to Laos, Germany, Turkey and, as of mid-1993, New Zealand, where he is First Secretary at the Thai embassy. He married, in 1974, a now well know feature writer and they have two sons. Among his better works, Through the Dragons Stripes, a family saga, has been translated into Japanese.
